Friends of Second Marsh (FSM) is a registered charity located in Oshawa, Ontario.
FSM Vision: Connecting people with nature at a thriving Oshawa Second Marsh and the McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve.
FSM Mission: The protection and restoration of Oshawa Second Marsh and the McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve for present and future generations through education, interpretation and stewardship.
2026-2030 Strategic Plan Alignment:
- Engaging the community through education, interpretation and stewardship services
- Supporting the City in providing necessary infrastructure to facilitate public use
The new platform will replace the one that General Motors of Canada built on the Marshland Trail on the east side of Oshawa Second Marsh in 1993.
The platform, affectionately known as the “GM Tower”, has been sorely missed since 2023 by outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, families and children who visit the area regularly. The platform was removed in 2023 due to age and unsafe conditions.
OUR CHALLENGE
Estimated expenses are projected to be ~$144,300*. These include project management, marketing materials, permits, reviews, surveys, insurance, legal costs, signs and education panels, and construction costs.
